Hi Everyone,
It has been 10 days since I sent out the email requesting your help for our co-worker Cindy Rainey in Picher, OK. Cindy was a victim of the devastating tornados that struck Picher over the weekend of Mother’s Day. Cindy’s home was destroyed and she lost almost everything she had in the storm. I felt compelled to help Cindy and knew that you all would rise to the occasion as you have so many times before.
In this instance you truly demonstrated “a better way to care” for each other as 120 of you made generous contributions to help Cindy. In addition, some of you also felt compelled to help the other residents of the Picher community and donated on their behalf as well. As a result, together we raised nearly $20,000 to help Cindy as well as some of the other Picher residents that are struggling to put their lives back together. We all understand that money alone will not heal the wounds of the Picher community but it will certainly help those individuals as they begin to rebuild their lives. In talking to Cindy she has expressed her deepest gratitude to all of you for the way you have reached out to her even though to many of you she is a stranger. She was truly humbled by your acts of kindness. Cindy is still struggling with some injuries sustained in the tornado and is in continued need of our prayers for both her physical body as well as her material needs.
What an awesome group of people that we have been blessed to work with. We never know when circumstances outside of our control will literally turn our lives upside down. When we encounter these types of challenges it is comforting to know that the Encompass family will stand ready to help. I feel blessed to work with each of you and blessed to be a part of something truly unique. May God bless each of you for your generosity and may God bless Cindy and the Picher community in their time of healing.
